John Writes Clearfield County Theme Song

11/6/2004

Recently John was asked to write a song for Julie Richards play called, Hidden Treasures, a History of Clearfield County. The song was a success and was used in the play while it was performed in several local towns for the Clearfield Bicentennial. You can now listen to it by going to the Clearfield County link at the bottom of our home page. Clearfield County. com liked it so much they posted it on their site. DJ Bobby Day even played it for the Governor when he came to Clearfield for the Bicentennial Dinner. John also was asked to write music for a poem that was a crucial part of one scene in the play, and perform and record some historic music of famous Penfield native George Rosenkrans that was used during the plays intermission.
Moore Brothers Record last Radio Show

9/5/2004

We are sorry to announce that because of other commitments we had to discontinue doing our Radio show. We really enjoyed it and our sponsor was willing to continue but we just could not maintain the schedule. When we announced our last program we had many people call in and ask why. We had great guests and we are going to miss doing the show but sometimes it is just too difficult for a band to do all that it wants to do and still have a life. We want to thank all you listeners for your support.
Moore Bros. Honor Fans

12/1/2003

The Moore Brothers turned the tables around on two fans, Saturday night at the Dubois VFW to honor two of their fans. Many of their fans are continuely surprising the band with t-shirts and other gifts, but this time the brothers did the surprising. It was brought to their attention that two of their fans, Debbie Marshall and Ron Blose, have heard the band perform live over four hundred times. The brothers wanted to honor them, so during the dance, they stopped the music and announced that they wanted Debbie and Ron to come to the band stand. It was a great crowd, so everyone wondered what was going on. We simply told the audience the remarkable devotion that the couple has for the band, and that they saw us perform over four hundred times, then we showered them with gifts. First we gave them each a t-shirt that read, #1 Fans We heard The Moore Brothers 400 + times. Then we gave them a CD copy of our rado show that we had earlier dedicated to them on the air, and which we had included their favorite song, "Unchained Melody." Then we read them a letter from us, thanking them for their outstanding support. After we all hugged and the audience applauded them, we played their favorite song as they danced. Their surprise was apparent and they were very grateful. It sure made us feel good, as did evryone in the hall. It really is great to have such fantastic fans as Debbie and Ron.

Moore Brothers To Be Included In Australian Radio Tribute Show

12/27/2002

Australian DJ, Doug Weedon, has notified us that he will be playing, Hank Is Dead, on his New Years radio show, which will be dedicated to Hank Williams. This New Years day will mark fifty years since the death of Hank Williams, who died en route to Canton, Ohio to play a New Years day show, which of course, he never made. As most of you know, our song, Hank Is Dead, is about the telegram that Hanks mother sent to her daughter, Irene, telling her that Hank had died. The telegram was sent New Years day, 1953. I happened to see the original telegram while it was on loan to the Country Music Hall of Fame a few years ago. That is what inspired me to write the song. The telegram is no longer their, as it belongs to Hank Jr. You can see it, however, in the book, Hank Williams, Snapshots From the Lost Hyway. That is a great book with some of the best pictures you will ever see of Hank Williams and there are a lot of first hand stories from the people who knew him best.
Moore Brothers Record Maine Radio Theme Song

10/4/2002

The Moore Brothers are now being heard regularly in the state of Maine, on station WERU FM in Bluehill & Bangor. They recently wrote and recorded the theme song for DJ Tommy Deans radio show called, "Independent Country." After getting the word out that he was looking for someone to write a theme song for his radio show, he picked a song written by John Moore of The Moore Brothers, out of fifteen other writers, to do the session. Tommy Dean footed the bill and said the song was just what he was looking for. If you want to give it a listen, go to our Listen Now page and click on "Independent Country."
Album of the Month

7/2/2002

The Moore Brothers received an unexpected honor this week. It was posted the "Top 100 Hot Country Singles Chart" that our CD, "Credit To You" made "Hot Album" for this period. This is quite an honor, considering that Kenny Chesney held that position last period. We also moved up on the Top 100 Chart with "Hank Is Dead" at #17.

Moore Brothers Play 23 Annual Hank Williams Festival

6/10/2002

We had a great time at the 23 Annual Hank Williams Festival. We opened Saturdays show for David Ball, Jett Williams, Gene Watson, and Don Williams. Mary Wallace, president of the Hank Williams International Fan Club, said we helped make her portion of the tribute to Hank, the best show ever. Of course it was an honor to play, but it was a double honor for us because we got to play the back-up music for members of Hanks original Drifting Cowboys band. We backed Clent Holmes, Lum York, Pee Wee Moultrie, Braxton Shuffart and others. Talked with Bernice Turner, the only girl who ever played guitar for Hank. And I had the pleasure of talking with Don Helms and Jett Williams. We were also honored to be asked to play at the breakfest honoring Don Helms. Many of Hanks family were there in the little school house where it was held. Don Helms and George Hamilton IV sat a few feet in front of us when we played. Heard some great stories and got to talk very personal with Pee Wee, Clent and Bernice. We have been asked to play next years show and if the Good Lords willin, we will.
